The dandelions

The Dandelions

A fine day it was, one spring, in a vast, beautiful park. So serene. So calm. If one listens closely, one would be able to hear the conversation between two dandelions. The Old Dandelion, with his wisdom, and the naive Baby Dandelion.

Said the Old Dandelion to the Baby Dandelion:
“Hear this dear little child, I have not long, perhaps a few days, or perhaps a few hours. But I won’t leave you with no help. I won’t leave you with no last words. A few advices, for your journey throughout life.
One, always know my dear-dear-child, that one day, you’ll grow up to be someone different. You’ll look different, your purpose of life will be different. If you live now to mesmerize the eyes looking at your beauty, you will soon live to be a great pollen, not to be looked at, but to be useful. Always know that whatever you are today is temporary. Short-lived. So make full use of it.

Two, bear in mind that one day, you will travel all around the park, or even further, blown away by the wind. Take your time. Take your time to travel and find the right spot to land. Find the right time and the right way to spread your magic to the ground. But remember, no matter how high you fly, you’ll still come back to the earth, His earth. Thus, be humble all the way.

Three, listen here my little friend. There are things we need to do in life that won’t need a repay. It might hurt at times, but that’s what will keep us going. That, we call sacrifice. As time comes, you will need to sacrifice to ensure our generation’s continuation. You’ll have to let go of all your lovely parts and be left with a tiny stalk. And all of you will travel all over, continuing the legacy. You might not be able to harvest your crop, but then again, it is always worth it to go on with a smile.

And last, never ever forget, that whatever you do, where ever you are, whatever the season is, death will come to you. Ready or not, it will always invite you home, not a second of delay. Hence, prepare. It might come in all sorts of forms. Be it the wind, be it a little boy blowing, be it big feet stepping on you, it is always there, waiting. But before it does invite you, be sure you’ve done all you could to make this world a better place. Remember, if you can’t make a big change, then make small changes.”

As the Old Dandelion finished his sentence, a strong wind came, and blew off all his florets away. Leaving nothing behind but his words engraved in the heart of the Baby Dandelion. And the florets flew away, continuing the dandelion legacy.
